Qatar 2022: Messi confirms when he will play his last World Cup game
Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, has confirmed that the 2022 World Cup final this Sunday, will be his last ever game at the tournament.
The 35-year-old will look to go out on a high by lifting the most prestigious trophy in football.
Messi produced a stunning performance in the semi-final against Croatia as they won 3-0.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward scored one and provided two assists as Albiceleste qualified for the final.
Messi has now said he doesn’t think he would be at the next World Cup in 2026.
He told TyC Sports: “A lot of happiness, being able to achieve this. Ending my career in the World Cups playing my last game in a final.”
When asked if it was his last World Cup, he added: “Surely yes. There are many years for the next one and I don’t think I will be able to do that and ending this way is the best
