World Cup: Gernot Rohr gives verdict on Senegal without Mane
Former Burkina Faso and Nigeria coach, Gernot Rohr has tipped Senegal to progress from the 2022 World Cup Group A.
The Group A houses the likes of the host nation, Qatar, Ecuador, and The Netherlands.
In the opening game on Sunday, Ecuador defeated Qatar 2-0 to keep their hopes of progressing to the next round alive.
Senegal will play The Netherlands today and will be without their talisman, Sadio Mane, who was injured and ruled out of the tournament.
Rohr believes that Chelsea defender, Kalidou Koulibaly will now be heavily relied upon to assume the team’s leadership role.
“In Sadio Mane, they have a star who can make the difference on his own and in Kalidou Koulibaly, a very strong, athletic defender at the back,” he told Wettbasis.
