Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Ann Agom-Eze, the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) senatorial candidate for the Ebonyi South senatorial district, declared Wednesday that she is still the party’s nominee for the position.
She claimed that the state chapter of the party had not informed her that she had been expelled from the party and that she had not received such notice.
Agom-Eze continued, saying that the governor’s goons are waiting for her when she leaves Ebonyi State because her life is in danger.
The major candidate opposing David Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State, for the nomination is Agom-Eze.
Earlier this month, on July 22, Umahi filed a lawsuit in Abakaliki’s Federal High Court seeking the court to recognize him as the APC candidate for the senatorial district.
The court did, however, recognize Agom-Eze, who finished second in the Ebonyi South senatorial primary poll on May 28, but it also mandated that a new primary election be held within 14 days.
On July 31, the APC held a new primary election, and Umahi was declared the victor.
After this incident, the party’s Ebonyi chapter declared that Agom-Eze had been kicked out for “rebelliously jeopardizing her membership by breaking the APC’s constitution.”
Agom-Eze responded to this on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television program, by asserting that even though the case is still pending in court, she is the party’s legitimate senate candidate.
“In my opinion, I am the candidate because the ruling from June 22nd declared me to be so. I am still the candidate, in my opinion.
