John Barnes defends Man Utd players after Ronaldo’s comments
Former Liverpool winger, John Barnes has defended Manchester United’s youngsters after forward Cristiano Ronaldo lashed out at them.
Ronaldo had in his recent interview with Piers Morgan, claimed that Man United’s youngsters don’t listen to him or follow his guidance, adding that they simply ‘don’t care’.
The Portugal captain also said that they would not have longevity in their careers.
However, Barnes has now hit back at those comments, insisting that Man United’s youngsters are fantastic.
Barnes told BonusCodeBets, “I never really thought it was necessary for them to do it (Man United bringing Ronaldo back to the club).
“Once you have Sancho and Rashford and other young players, you have to give them the message that you’re the future. You’re going to be the regulars in the team.
“And when he came back, he detracted from that. As you can see, Rashford had a dip, Sancho has had a dip, and he has not come out of it, whereas they should’ve been the ones carrying Man Utd forward.
“And now, of course, they are going back to them. I felt that Man Utd should’ve really used those young players that they’ve because they’re fantastic players
