I Am Uncomfortable That Shaibu Wants To Be Governor, He Is From Oshiomhole’s Village – Pedro Obaseki
Don Pedro Obaseki has come out to speak on how the dispute between Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu started.
According to o Don Pedro who appeared in an interview on Arise TV this morning, the dispute started after June 2023, in the backdrop of the problems the PDP had.
In his own words as seen on Arise TV this morning…
“You cannot remove politics from the locale and I think in Edo state, all of us, including me, I am uncomfortable that Philip Shaibu wants to run for Governor. Because although we are seemingly homogeneous, Philip is from the same village as Oshiomhole. It’s like me trying to be Governor after my elder brother has left office. I think that’s where the whole thing might have started. But on ground, with all the things in Edo state right now, the real distancing started with the constitution of the present house of assembly.”
“After June 2023, everyone in the state who knew what was going down, knew that the deputy governor wanted to install a speaker who wasn’t the one the governor and other people in the party structure wanted. If you stress the history of the relationship of Godwin and Philip against the backdrop of the problems the PDP has been having, many people felt that Philip was the finger on the trigger.”
