Niger Police parade three suspects with fake N15.8m currency notes

Niger State Police Command has paraded three suspects for allegedly being in possession of counterfeit N1000 Naira notes to the tune of N15, 830, 000.

The suspects include Emmanuel Akazuwa, 42yrs of Adi village, Buruku Local area of Benue State, Pastor Sabastine Dabu, 48yrs of Zuru Kebbi State and Umar Mohammed, 50yrs of Pandogari, Rafi Lg area of Niger State.

Parading the suspects before newsmen in Minna, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Wasiu Abiodun said they were caught by the Police in Kontagora area of the State.

According to him, Emmanuel, the mastermind of the crime was arrested in possession of N15,830,000 at a Hotel in Kontagora, along with Pastor Sabastine and Umar who were suspected to be his agents.

He explained that Emmanuel who confessed to the crime claimed that he bought the fake currency from one Nifom, presently at large at Katsina-Ala in Benue State at the rate of N150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand naira.)

The PRO further stated that according to Emmanuel, he met Pastor Sabastine at a Cathedral Congress in Makurdi who promised to assist him to sell the currency.

“Umar was contracted by Pastor Sabastine in an attempt to meet a buyer at the said hotel.

“The case is under investigation and the suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded,” he stated.
