The Anambra State Police Command has launched an operation to apprehend the kidnappers of Father Basil Gbuzuo and Professor Sydney Onyeagu, who were recently released unhurt by their abductors.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has activated “Onslaught Operation” to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The police are working with available information to frustrate the criminal intentions of non-state actors and reduce crime to the barest minimum in the state.
The swift action by the police is a welcome development, and the public is urged to support the effort by providing any relevant information that can aid in the apprehension of the kidnappers.
The release of Father Gbuzuo and Professor Onyeagu is a relief, and the police are committed to ensuring that those responsible face the full weight of the law.
