I’ll overcome APC’s plot against me – Melaye

‘Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil,’ this was the biblical quote used by Senator Dino Melaye at the weekend while declaring to supporters that he would continue to overcome plots by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to suppress him. The senator, who addressed party supporters at a Kogi West zonal rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kabba, said he was aware of plans by the ruling party to arrest top leaders of PDP before next Saturday’s general election.

He said former governors Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada, Prince Olusola Akanmode, Chief Abiodun Ojo, James Fabola, had been marked for illegal arrests and intimidation before the polls.

The lawmaker said he feared no evil even when he walks through the shadow of death. “I learnt they boasted that I will be killed if I visit Kogi State. They cannot kill me because God is my shield. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for God is with me; His rod and staff, they comfort me. He has prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemy.

“They have vowed to ensure the arrests of former governors; Ibrahim Idris; Idris Wada; Prince Olusola Akanmode; Chief Abiodun Ojo; Hon. James Fabola; Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf and myself. They have failed and will continue to fail.” “They have boasted that they will militarise and rig next Saturday’s elections. They cannot because we will not allow them. The battle to ensure free and fair elections in Kogi State is a battle of no retreat, no surrender.”
