Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior, arrived unexpectedly at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison in Apapa, Lagos State, on Tuesday.
Track News discovered that Aregbesola’s unexpected visit was intended to motivate Nigerian prison officials.
Aregbesola posted on his verified Facebook page, “Today, I paid a surprise visit to the Kirikiri Maximum and Medium Security Custodial Centres in Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos State.”
“During the visit, I recognized our servicemen and security agencies, who have made significant sacrifices to keep us safe.” I also charge them with remaining ever vigilant and constantly evolving strategies. And, in order to define these strategies, they must make decisions based on hard-earned wisdom rather than fear.
“I also told our officers and men in the centers that they needed to fight to defend our institutions, territory, and constitution.” It also applies to all others, regardless of where they are posted in Nigeria.
“Ragtag groups of opportunists who attack soft targets must not be allowed to attack and flee our institutions.” They must not have lived to tell the tale.”
