BAYELSA STATE GOVERNMENT DRAW UP YOUTH DEVELOPMENT POLICY

Bayelsa State Government has concluded plans to come up with a comprehensive Youth Development Policy that will address all comtemporary behavioural issues concerning the youths.

Commissioner for Youth Development Engr. Udengs Eradiri dropped the hint in a meeting with Management and Staff of the Ministry on Thurdays 20th December, 2018 at the Secretariat Anex 3, in Yenagoa.

Engr. Eradiri noted that part of the State Government plans is to ensure that youths are effectively engaged in Agriculture, Internet Communiction Technology (ICT) and other creative ventures that will drive the State economy to the next level.

The Commissioner explained that the youth policy would also address issues such as drug abuse, cultism, armed robbery and other social vices. being expirienced in the state, adding that the State Government through the Ministry of Youth Development shall invoke another round of Cult Renouciation that will be backed by law.

Engr. Eradiri disclosed that the Ministry will organise an ellaborate youth Carnival/ Music Concert to showcase talents and othe resourcesful potentials abound in Bayelsa State, stressing, that effective collaboration with corporate groups and individuals shall be needed to further expose the youths to different kinds of opportunities the Commissioner challenged the youths to engage themselves in productive ventures and advised them not to use Bayelsa as a battle ground during the forth coming General Elections.

He use the medium to advise staff to be hard working and disciplined in accordance with the role of engagement.

In his remark, the Director of Youths Education Mr. Iwumansi Robert thanked the Governor for appointing someone with requisite expirience on youth matters as Commissioner of the Ministry and expressed hope that the former IYC Boss will bring his ingenuinty to bear in his new job.

Describing the appointment as a round peg in a round hole, Mr. Iwumansi Robert

assured the Commissioner of full co-operation of staff to enable him succeed in his assignment.
