The Campaign for Democracy, South East Zone, and the Human Rights Liberty Access and Peace Defenders Foundation, HURIDE, have condemned the assault on Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje Ndaboski, founder and General Overseer of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministry, Fegge, Onitsha, Track News reports.

In a joint statement issued on Sunday and signed by its South East Zone Chairman Dede Uzor A. Uzor, who also doubles as Executive Director of HURIDE, CD and HURIDE told Governor Chukwuma Soludo that ordering the arrest of the security man who assaulted Prophet Ohanaemere is not enough, saying that Anambra people want to see the kind of punishment that will be meted out to him, saying that many people have suffered such humiliation at the hands

CD and HURIDE described the security man’s action as crude, uncivilized, and uncalled for, and stated that if an inadequate and concealed punishment is not meted out to the vigilante operative, another cleric will be assaulted by overzealous vigilante operatives and officials of other security agencies.

According to CD and HURIDE, the Anambra State Government Taskforce mandate was not to slap and beat people, let alone a man of God, and thus the vigilante operative’s action was shameful, and if not adequately punished, it will portray Anambra State’s new government as one that is working with lawless individuals and security operatives.

“Our attention has been drawn to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s directive for the punishment of security operatives, (Vigilante operatives) that assaulted a man of God, and the Founder and General Overseer of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministry, Fegge, Onitsha, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as, Odumeje Ndaboski,” CD and HURIDE said in

While we applaud the state Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, for his prompt response to the heinous assault on Odumeje Ndaboski, we demand that the punishment meted out to the vigilante operative and any other security man involved in the heinous act be made public in order to serve as a deterrent to other security operatives who go above and beyond their duties to assault and humiliate people in the state.

“It is not enough to order the punishment of the vigilante operative and other security agents involved in the heinous and avoidable assault on the man of God; the people of Anambra want to see what kind of punishment will be meted out to him.” Many people have suffered humiliation at the hands of vigilante operatives and other security men in the state without complaining because they intimidate them with guns; this time, if the vigilante operative’s and his accomplices’ punishment is made public, it will serve as a deterrent to other security operatives.”
