Lightning strikes chainsaw operator to death while felling 80-year-old tree

A middle-aged man has been struck dead by lightning in Alade-Idanre, Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The victim, a chainsaw operator, known in the community as ‘Shosho’, died on the spot while trying to fell a tree.
According to sources, no one had tried to take down the “Koleagbe” tree in Ayo Camp, which is located on the Oke-Oko axis of the community.
The lightning strike was said to have occurred in the absence of rain, which shocked the residents.
One of the sources claimed that “It was like an electric spark and a heavy thunder shook the entire community.
“We were shocked and we could comprehend the mystery of the thunder strike. We know from the way the man was killed that it was not ordinary.”
Another source said, “the tree was planned to be cut down without the owner’s permission by the operator and his sponsor.”
Owa of Idanre, Oba Fredrick Aroloye, had to step in as a result of the situation before community traditionalists could carry out the funeral rites for the deceased.
Shosho, who was from the eastern part of the country, was buried at the scene of the accident
