Osun Speaker warns against stoking tension over Ikirun kingship tussle
The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye has appealed to all the political parties in the State to desist from fomenting trouble.
Owoeye made this statement on Wednesday during plenary of the House of Assembly on the backdrop of the renewed violence which engulfed Ikinrun town on Wednesday.
While warning that troublemakers would not go unpunished, Owoeye warned that if they were caught, they would face the wrath of the law.
According to him, “The People of Ikirun and Ifelodun in particular should let peace reign, especially on the Obaship issue.
“They should approach the court of law and not cause trouble in the State.”
Track News had reported on Wednesday that a section of the palace of the Akinrun of Ikirun had gone up in flames as the obaship tussle in the ancient town takes a turn for the worse.
It was also reported that one person identified as Lukuman Omoola was shot dead as a result of the renewed crisis relating to the Akinrun of Ikirun stool.
The latest round of crisis started as a result of alleged plans to smuggle the new Akinrun, Oba Olalekan Akadiri into the palace.
Oba Akadiri whose appointment by the Osun State Government has not been recognised by a majority of the town’s people, including chiefs and the head of kingmakers, is from Obaara Ruling House as against the Gboleru Ruling House which is supposed to produce the next Akinrun
