Peter Obi Should Publicly Denounce Supporters Trying To Sabotage Nigeria After Supreme Court Verdict – Bashir Ahmad

Former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has called on the Labour Party (LP), presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, to caution some of his supporters trying to sabotage Nigeria following the outcome of the Supreme Court ruling.

TrackNews Media reports that the apex court on Thursday dismissed all appeals against the victory of President Bola Tinubu, upholding the decision of the tribunal, which sat at the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

While the Supreme Court verdict has finally ended the dispute of the 2023 election, some Nigerians have failed to come to terms with the reality, saying they would not recognize Tinubu as President.

In a post via X on Saturday, Bashir urged the aggrieved LP supporters to re-strategize ahead of the 2027 election, build bridges, and canvass for more votes across the six geographical regions.

Buhari’s former aide claimed that Peter Obi’s silence regarding the issue of his supporters could mean he and those trying to sabotage the government never had the country’s interest.

He said, “Peter Obi should publicly denounce and distance himself from some of his supporters trying to sabotage Nigeria and its economy after the Supreme Court judgment. This is not how to show your grievances, even when you have any.

“The better way is to re-strategize against 2027, build bridges, and canvass for more votes across the six geographical regions. Not doing anything about what his supporters are doing will only confirm that for Peter and those individuals, it was never about Nigeria and the well-being of the people.”
