Tinubu under immense pressure as 30 Middle Belt groups insist on Betta Edu’s reinstatement

A coalition of thirty groups under The Middle Belt Pan-Nigerian Forum has issued a press statement urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reinstate Dr Betta Edu as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

The spokesperson for the coalition, Dr Danladi Ceceko Dangana, emphasised Dr Edu’s outstanding achievements and commitment to eradicating poverty and addressing humanitarian crises in Nigeria despite her recent suspension over fund transfer issues.

The coalition highlighted several accomplishments during Dr Edu’s tenure, including securing substantial commitments from UNICEF, cultivating support from global partners, and actively addressing internal security and human trafficking.

The coalition urged President Tinubu to consider her remarkable track record and expedite the investigation process, suggesting that her reinstatement would allow her to continue the impactful work she initiated.

The Middle Belt Forum, representing thousands of members from thirty different groups in the North-Central region, stressed that beneficiaries of the social programs initiated by Dr Edu could verify the positive impact of the ministry’s initiatives.

The coalition stated that reinstating Dr Edu would testify to President Tinubu’s dedication to inclusive governance.

“Considering the impressive track record of Dr. Betta Edu within a short period, we urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to discard her contributions. We implore the President and all Nigerians to recognise her dedication, competence, and determination to serve the nation.”

“We beseech President Tinubu to expedite the investigation process and, if Dr. Edu is found not to have committed any crime, reinstate her as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

“We firmly believe that allowing her to continue the good work she has started will yield even greater achievements for the nation.

“Reinstating Dr. Betta Edu will not only be a just decision but also a testament to President Tinubu’s dedication to inclusive governance and the well-being of all Nigerians,” the group said.
