Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack: Bandits Release Five Victims, Others Held

Track News Nigeria learnt that about five passengers who are victims of the Kaduna-bound train attack by unknown gunmen as at March 28, 2022, have regained their freedom.

Track News Nigeria reports that the surviving victims were released today August 2.

Track News Nigeria covers that Prof. Mustapha Umar Imam, a medical doctor at the Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUS), Sokoto State is among the freed passengers.

Our Correspondent, Mr. Mohammed Oluwatimileyin Taoheed, says that Imam had been shot while in captivity.

Other passengers who were released are: Akibu Lawal, Abubakar Ahmed Rufai, Muktar Shuaibu, and Sidi Aminu Sharif.

Tukur Mamu, the Kaduna-based Publisher, who voluntarily engaged in negotiating the release of the victims but halted due to threats to his life confirmed their release to Track News Nigeria.

Note that 27 victims have regained their freedom so far. Thus with the release of the five victims, the number of those still in captivity now remains at 35.

As at the time of filling this report, we could not ascertain if any money was paid as ransom to solicit their release.
