Apampa: We Are Not Answerable To Him And We Will Never Be Answerable To Him – Obi’s Lawyer, Uzoukwu

The legal team of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has rejected the 48-hour update directive issued by a faction of the party regarding the petitions before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal for the February 25 election. On Friday, LP’s lawyers had expressed their intention to challenge the ruling on their objection at the Court of Appeal. However, Apampa, a member of the party, announced to the press that he was taking over the party based on the order.

Despite Apampa’s announcement, Levi Uzoukwu (SAN), the lead counsel to Obi and the LP, stated on Sunday that the legal team had no involvement with Apampa. LP’s lawyers had previously indicated their intention to challenge the ruling on their objection at the Court of Appeal, but Apampa’s actions were not in line with their legal strategy.

Uzoukwu’s statement suggests that Apampa’s actions were not authorized by the legal team of Obi and the LP. The legal team’s focus remains on their intention to challenge the ruling on their objection at the Court of Appeal. Apampa’s attempt to take control of the party based on the order is not recognized by the legal team.

Uzoukwu said, “He never briefed us; we are not answerable to him and we will never be answerable to him.”

Recall that, Apampa declared: “I want to invite all the lawyers that are in charge, representing the Labour Party at the election tribunal, to give me updates in the next 48 hours because I am the one in charge and the one in the driver’s seat.”
