Abdullahi Sule, Governor of Nasarawa State, has stated that he cannot say whether those who appeared as clerics at the official presentation of former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, as the running mate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flagbearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, are truly Catholic priests.

According to Track News, the event, which took place at the Shehu Yar’adua Center in Abuja, featured supposed representatives of the Catholic Church.

Critics say Tinubu’s campaign team hired the bishops to give Christian voters the impression that his decision to pick a fellow Muslim despite strong objections and national security implications was accepted by the Christian community.

“Well, if they’re hired, we didn’t see that,” Sule said on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Wednesday evening.

“Perhaps the same people who are on the streets today were also hired” (referring to anti Muslim-Muslim ticket campaigners). It’s the same thing, you know. Can you compare the calibre of people on the street to the calibre of people who have just arrived at that event?”
