The Director General Senr-Comr Doubara Kumokou on behalf of the Central Executives, the body of LGA Directorates, and entire members of the Prosperity Youths Coalition (PYC) wish to congratulate the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and our beloved Governor Sen. Douye Diri together with his dependable Deputy Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo on this well deserved victory at the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Tribunal that sat at Abuja.

Like we stated earlier, to the PYC and indeed the vast majority of Bayelsans this judgement is no surprise at all, as it only confirms the truth of Diri’s victory at the November 2023 polls, and so when the Tribunal reserved for judgement, we were in no way disturbed but were rather happy that the judgement could pass so the governor and his team can settle down for the business of governance, to God be the glory! the will of Bayelsans have yet again prevailed.

No doubt Bayelsans have stood and are still standing firmly with the Prosperity administration because at this point in time what Bayelsa needs is a focused and intentional development action plan, and a governor that would not pay mere lip service to that all important task, we had recognized long before the election that Diri’s ideals aligns with the desperate desires of the Bayelsan soul itself, and the voice of the people is as the popular saying goes, the will of God, no doubt it is that expressed will that is now summarized and adopted as the judgement of the Tribunal.

Going forwards, parties (especially the leading main opposition) must understand that it is Bayelsa first, and this judgement must be considered in its entirety as a victory for the state, it is a no victor no vanquished scenario, therefore all counsels to appeal further must be treated as borne out of greed of personal aggrandisement or deep marlice against the development of the state, therefore must be rejected and given no thoughts.

Every candidates must at this time sheeth his or her sword and join the rest of us Bayelsans to work with the governor to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people who are in dire need of developmental activities. It is a good thing that from the day of his oath taking for the second term in office Governor Diri has promised and matching words with actions that his vision to run an all inclusive Government where everyone is welcome to contribute either in private capacities or at other corporate levels, Diri has kept the door open to even the most aggrieved so that compromises can be made for the socio-economic advancement of Bayelsa State as the Glory of Lands.

The PYC wish to remind Bayelsans, especially those members of the opposition who may wish to appeal the judgement of the Tribunal as delivered today, that the Gov. Diri administration is embarking on massive projects across the state, these projects require huge capital investments and the steady concentration of government’s attention, perhaps instead of wasting their hard earned fortunes and funds on “most likely futile” litigations, opposition candidates could partner the state government in delivering some of these landmark projects such as the Nembe/Brass road that seeks to open up that axis for commerce and tap into the huge tourism potential of the state’s Atlantic wealth.

For us as a major youth group operating within the political space of the state, the PYC use this medium to extend an olive branch to the willing members of the opposition, it is not yet too late to make a complete turn around and support Diri/Lawrence, youths and women particularly must take another look beyond the scenery and rather join the team that mean well for our collective growth, security, and even individual development, we dare to say the umbrella is big enough to accommodate you, Diri is working… Join us.
