Taraba ALGON condemns abduction of colleague, tasks security operatives
Taraba State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, has called on both the state and the Federal Government to come up with initiatives that will end kidnapping, banditry and criminality in the country.
The call was made on Monday while reacting to the abduction of one of its members in the state.
The abducted member of the association, Boyi Manja, who was whisked away by kidnappers on Sunday, is the caretaker committee chairman of Takum Local Government Council.
ALGON, in a statement signed by the state chairman of the Association, Bala Bako, described the abduction as a “rude shock”.
While sympathising with the family of the police orderly that was killed while trying to repel the abductors, Bako, who is the chairman of Ibi Local Government Council, called on the security agencies to rescue the victim.
ALGON also demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice.
As of the time of filing this report, security operatives were said to be combing the surrounding forests
